What inspires me.

I come from a lineage of pioneering women who walked closely with earth, so I was introduced to the divinity of the natural world at a young age. Lila, the gram for whom I was named, devoted her life to tending the garden, the animals, and her family. She hummed a certain high-pitched melody that caused wild birds to gather around her. Her daughter, my mother, Yvonne, likewise approached gardening as a sacrament and made it seem commonplace to converse with the wild birds she referred to as "my crows." The windowsill in my childhood kitchen displayed offerings collected on Ma's daily walks, so it's not surprising that the feathers and rocks and sacred trinkets collected during my own decades of walking adorn the many altars around my home and garden. My collection of heart stones has been added to with gifts of friends from around the world.
I am inspired by God's presence as I experience it in the sacraments of nature.

The world through my lens.
I enjoy capturing images of the sacred. I’m not a professional photographer by any means – these images were captured with my camera phone – but they represent who I am as a writer and an artist.
